HP’s Xavi Garcia and Josh Peterson on HP Z Workstations, Professional VR and the new HP Z VR Backpack

Xavi Garcia, General Manager and Global Head of HP Z Workstations and Josh Peterson, VP, Head of Worldwide Product Management for HP Z Workstations join Steve Waskul in the StudioXperience Broadcast Studio at SIGGRAPH 2017. During this interview Xavi and Josh talk in depth about HP Z Workstations, how they are used to create VR experiences and the new VR capable products targeted at commercial applications like the HP Z VR Backpack. The HP Z VR backpack is the first PC on the market to feature the powerful NVIDIA® Quadro® P5200 GPU which has 16GB of memory. This, combined with the latest Intel® Core™ i7 vPro™ processors and up to 32GB of RAM will allow users to interact smoothly with high-end workloads and complex simulations.

About Xavi Garcia

Xavi Garcia currently serves as General Manager and Global Head of HP Z Workstations.

Previously, Mr. Garcia was Vice President and General Manager of the Large-Format Sign and Display Division, where Xavi held worldwide responsibility for day-to-day operations within the HP Scitex and HP Latex business.

Xavi Garcia also served as Vice President and General Manager of HP Scitex Industrial Presses and as the worldwide director of operations for HP Scitex Industrial Presses. In this position, Garcia played an integral role in helping the business reach significant milestones in all key metrics, working closely with customers and regional teams.

Mr Garcia joined HP in 1993 as a product engineer at HP Barcelona. In 2006, Garcia was responsible for the creation of the Large Format Lab in Shanghai during a relocation period to China.

Garcia holds a master’s degree in business administration from ESADE (Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas) Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

About Josh Peterson

Josh joined Hewlett-Packard in 2001 as a Product Manager, responsible for the entry level desktop workstation products. In 2004 he transitioned to HP’s consumer storage business, where he led HP’s Blu-ray Disc strategy and chaired the promotional committee for the Blu-ray Disc Association during the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc. In 2006, Josh was promoted to Worldwide Marketing Manager for HP’s Home Server business. In that role he was responsible for introducing products such as HP Media Vault and HP MediaSmart Server.

Josh returned to HP’s Workstation Business in 2008 to create and manage a new cross-functional Innovation Team, responsible for fostering innovation across the organization, investigating ideas, and developing new technology concepts. In 2009, he was asked to manage the product management team for desktop workstations. He was promoted to Director of Worldwide Product Management in 2012 and tasked with managing both desktop and mobile workstation product portfolios.
